In the spring, Anchorage Office of Management and Budget sends a list of potential Capital Improvement Projects to each of the Community Councils and asks them to prioritize their needs for funding. The Councils, in turn, ask their members to help with setting priorities for spending funds from municipal bonds and state and federal grants. Projects are prioritized within funding categories. We use online polls for this.
Some recently completed Scenic Foothills Capital Improvement Projects:
32nd Avenue Upgrade Project + Cherry Street drainage. Reconstruction of East 32nd Avenue, from Muldoon Road to Brookridge Drive, and Cherry Street drainage and reconstruction from 32nd Avenue to 36th Avenue, were completed in 2013.
Pioneer Drive improvements from Muldoon Road to Resurrection Drive were completed in October 2014. Sidewalks were added. Parking for Chugach Foothills Park was expanded from eight spaces to 25. Flower gardens were moved from the median to the park and a new safety median between the parking lot and the street was constructed.
Information on CIP projects in prior years may be found on the SFCC legacy website.
